Nestled in the heart of Kibera, Kibera Girls School offers free education to 400 primary school girls in the community. Currently housed in temporary ‘mabati’ (corrugated metal) structures scattered all over the site. Cave was commissioned to come up with a new building that will consolidate all the facilities in one common area. The design of the new provides a comprehensive learning environment and engages the community by allowing for the large assembly hall to be used outside of school hours. It will be a one of a kind model school in an informal settlement.
